Sewing Circle

Sewing Circle

Sewing Circle in Mennville started in 1953. The ladies would meet in homes. It was always full house, as they would bring their young children! The ladies helped each other with their mending and they made blankets and layettes for MCC. There was a time of fellowship with coffee and devotions.

What does Sewing Circle look like today?
We gather in the church basement twice a month. We are a small group of 6-10 ladies. At our meetings we cut patches for quilts, tie and finish blankets, and put strings into kit bags. Some ladies work with knitting.
The quilt tops and kit bags are sewn in our homes. These are donated to MCC. The mittens that are knitted go to Riverton Thrift Shop and Union Gospel in Winnipeg. One of our ladies also knits comfort dolls. These are donated to Samaritan’s purse for Christmas gift boxes.

We enjoy a coffee break and devotions at each meeting. It is a wonderful time of fellowship.
